My thoughts were this: Oh what a wonderful time to pick up 40 Aug20 options at under 2 1/4!!!!!

I have a copy of the Smith Barney Downgrade and believe Min Pang is an
__________(fill in your favorite term). It is amazing how non technical people such as these can go out and make such sweeping technical commentaries on the actual production capabilities. Reminds me of a couple of PHd candidates that I have interviewed in the past. Plenty of book knowledge and very little practical experience. UTEK is being beaten down because analysts like this do not have the technical and financial wherewithall to deal with companies such as UTEK. Are there better investments out there??? Probably and if not, we will publish recommendations on them anyway, since we fail to comprehend their full capabilities.

I like his use of the word enabling technologies. For him, it really is "the most advanced processing technology equipment" not enabling technology. Enabling also considers economical and cost effective processing while finding new uses for existing products.

According to ARPA and a previously published article related to UTEK, the MEMS market is going to grow from $2.1 billion to $14 billion by the year 2000. Why doesn't UTEK's part in this explosive growth factor into any of his commentary. Does he understand that UTEK will probably dominant this market from the lithographic perspective?? Does he realize it is going to be done with the "lowest end lithography tool" in UTEK's product line, thereby giving new life to these tools. What does this mean???? No R&D expenses to service this market, no obosolence of a product in their portfolio, and two toolsets worth of migration down the road.

Better that he should recommend ASMLF as the stepper of choice. After all it is in the mid to high 80s and is about to split. This must be the investment he is talking about for enabling technology. After all, it is now 50 points above last year's price. Or how about CYMI since it provides the enabling DUV source for all the "enabling" steppers. Why not a host of other companies with their fancy CMP equipment or cleaning equipment? Forget about the work horse companies that are smart enough to develop and find new uses for their equipment. Forget about the 0.5u systems that will be available, forget about P-GILD, or Ultrabeam.

You are right, UTEK is a pig on stilts and everyone should bail big time. After all, you are the $1 million analyst who knows all. Now that you have trashed UTEK again and are moving the herd at Smith Barney in a new direction, what is the new hot prospect? We are waiting with extreme anticipation for your words of wisdom. In and out, in and out, first UTEK is good, then it is trash, then it is good, then it is bad. Can't make up our minds??? Or is it that we need to generate commissions for brokerage houses or that we may not know what is happening? I believe it is just a short sighted mentality with little to no long term understanding.

As for me, my unkind words on this subject will do 1 of 2 things. IF you are right and UTEK is crap, the price will stay where it is and I am the biggest idiot on SI. When you are shown to be wrong and UTEK performs, you will be shown to be incorrect in your assessment and lose credibility, but I will be sitting on a small fortune with stocks and options to further gloat with.

BTW-how's that for flipping the bird to the collective financial community and to the analysts who do not know a hill of beans about what they are speaking about. Big bucks and not enough basic understanding of the technicals.
