ot angel. q and nok already have a cdma agreement of sorts for 2g IPR. the better issue for Q would be if NOK enabled the use of Q's ASICs for 2g technology. NOK has already committed to 3g ASIC production through other carriers holding GSM platform IPRs (none of which Q currently doesn't owns). NOK already builds their own 2g CDMA ASIC line and promised to improve it. it's a very complicated picture; nevertheless, NOK has consistently claimed enough base to build their own wcdma ASIC in concert with other IPR players such as IDC (Interdigital Communications - IDC holds signifcant GSM platform IPRs which are required in the production of 3g WCDMA ASICS). Nok does have a 3g IPR agreement with IDC (thus far - that doesn't exclude others, though). they weren't claiming this yesterday or Monday. if it's limited, as you suggest, it would be a very different type of agreement. nonetheless, since they already have a limited 2g ipr agreement it may not be surprising to see a limited 2g ASIC agreement as well. 3g iprs and ASICs are already under test and are held by a number of other players as well and will include numerous agreements with many players. go back and see what NOK was saying just three months ago regarding this issue (said to Intl Data Corp).
