To our Stockholders, Partners and Customers,

I am pleased to report that Informix posted a solid performance for Q1 of 2000. Year-over-year pro forma earnings per share tripled to $0.09 and our Web and business intelligence revenues grew 140 percent, demonstrating that
we are getting traction in the new i.Economy.

Revenues for the quarter totaled $250.9 million, a 10.3 percent increase over
Q1 1999. Pro forma net income for the quarter, excluding $50.0 million in non-recurring charges associated with the acquisition of Ardent Software, was
$27 million. We delivered this solid financial performance in Q1, which is traditionally the slowest quarter, while completing the acquisition of
Ardent. We will continue to work diligently to leverage the full potential of
this combination.
These results demonstrate that we have started to benefit from our strategic
refocus. The growth in the i.Economy has expanded customers' demand for our
Web and Business Intelligence offerings. We have the right strategy and focus to provide customers with the leading-edge open solutions, infrastructure and engines that enable them to be successful in this new economy. We view our
Web solutions and engines and our Business Intelligence offerings as the catalysts for our company's sustained growth. Indeed, our results this quarter validate this belief.

Our Web business increased dramatically 352 percent over Q1 1999 with more than 40 new Web-specific customers, while Business Intelligence increased 42
percent from a year ago with more than 80 new Business Intelligence
customers. We achieved a significant milestone this quarter: Web and Business Intelligence represented more than 40 percent of our total revenue. For the first time, the new i.Economy solutions and engines revenues were in excess of $100 million in a single quarter.

This quarter, we continued to experience strong customer acceptance and growing momentum for our new product and solutions offerings, including i.Sell, i.Reach, Foundation.2000, and Business Intelligence. In addition, as
you may have seen, we unveiled Informix's new "Way Ahead" advertising and awareness campaign around the globe. We have positioned the company as "Informix Software, the Way to Web."

We are committed to helping accelerate existing and potential customers' ability to compete in the new i.Economy. Execution and delivery are the keys
to that promise.

Sincerely,

Jean-Yves Dexmier
President and Chief Executive Officer
