Hello Boris,

Welcome to the AMD thread!

Re: I'm a long time follower of AMD (being a student, I remember their clean processor design - cascadable 29x- impressed me. The same time I had to code assembler stuff for the "brain damaged" 80286)

I used to write a lot of 80286 assembly code myself, it made a significant difference in performance in those "hot spots" of an executable. Super powerful processors such as the Athlon, more complete and optimized compiler libraries and huge memory addressing space have removed much of the necessity to code assembly for general purpose programs. Still, the compilers will never beat the human being coding assembly for absolute execution speed or efficiency of resource usage. I still use assembly language myself but only a little now.

Once again, it's good to have you on board!

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
