crazyoldman: I mentioned assembler coding because there you saw immediately the flaws of this design. For compiler constructors writing a clean and simple code generator was impossible. The opcode/operand usage was not orthogonal at all, as we said, and so you had to distinct many special cases. Quite complicated and very low pay off. Well, seems to be Intel style. But now even they seem no longer being able to handle their stuff. Iïm really interested to watch the Merced and the FatWilly fate. Intel screwing again ?...... Chances are not bad. Boris
