JH Jr,..Re:.Good point. INTC, IBM, and add AAPL to the list, all beat earnings and fell about 10 points
They didn't beat earnings cleanly, via greatly increased revenues on stellar sales.
AAPL However, investors looked past the praise and saw that most of the earnings growth was generated by a rise in operating margins instead of very strong revenue growth they had expected, said Banc of America analyst Kurt King. dailynews.yahoo.com
INTC This was about 2 cents more per share than analysts had been anticipating for a gain on securities sales, based on last quarter's guidance. This additional gain, plus a lower tax rate than expected, left some analysts seemingly underwhelmed with the quarter, as evidenced by their comments on the conference call. dailynews.yahoo.com
IBM 'In general, it is disappointing any time revenues come in 5 percentage points lower than expectations, and it looks as though the second quarter will be lower than expected, too.' dailynews.yahoo.com
Maybe if MSFT has good earnings based exclusively on their primary business they will be rewarded?
