but I'm definitely moving to an excel spreadsheet attachment to the Sch D... easier to manage.

Quicken (Qw) + TurboTax (TT) aren't perfect, but the combo is good for record keeping and preparing taxes and ES payments.
Qw let's you create customized reports which are useful to final tallies that can be used as input into TT. seemless transfer of data from one to the other is a myth however :-)

if your broker (schwab, etrade, etc.) downloads transactions into Qw it's even better, otherwise, I'm religious about updating it daily... otherwise you're toast if you trade frequently.
