Someone has given him some bad advice. He has gone ahead and replaced SDRAM in all of his Workstations with RDRAM. Where are his engineers?


Which represents about a whopping 265K units in 99, perhaps 477K units in 2000 or 0.3% of the box market. RMBS units remain quite rare.

The discussion should focus on units shipping not DRAM makers PR intentions. Intentions are soft - units shipped is hard.

And while I'm at it benchmark discussions are even less useful. In complex systems benchmarks are like statistics - they can support what ever you want. As long as performance is not completely differentiated - Marketing will trump - e.g. Apple. Rich
