Idealab, creator of Internet businesses, files IPO
WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) - Idealab, a creator and operator of Internet businesses, filed on Thursday to raise $300 million in an initial public offering.
The Pasadena, Calif.-based company plans to use the net proceeds to create, build and operate more businesses and for general corporate purposes.
It has applied for a Nasdaq listing under the symbol ``ILAB,' and the underwriters are Goldman Sachs, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, Merrill Lynch, Robertson Stephens and Thomas Weisel Partners, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
The preliminary SEC prospectus did not disclose how many shares were being offered to the public, the price range or other details, which are all expected in future filings.
The company's network currently includes seven public and 28 private companies, including eToys Inc. (NasdaqNM:ETYS- news), NetZero Inc.(NasdaqNM:NZRO - news) and WeddingChannel.com. |
