Well for starters, I for one cannot understand why you'd want to post on a third-tier chat board. The best informed and most capable Internet investors post on SI. They (SI) got rid of most of the riffraff long ago. That other board allowed them to register because in the beginning, they weren't (and still aren't) very classy or choosey. Things may be gradually undergoing changes over there, but until they clean up their act and get rid of the garbage, I see no need for any intelligent investor to post on RB. If you like the entertainment factor, then fine, just lurk over there. But posting with the likes of them is clearly beneath your class.
Take at look at the collective caliber of posters over on the other board. SI knew what they were doing when they vanquished the troublemakers for repeated ToU violations. In essence, SI exchanged quantity of posts (many of which were nothing more than vulgarities) for quality of posts. Who's ahead now? RB may have more sheer numbers of posts (don't know for sure if that's true or not, but I suspect it is), but SI has the quality posts and quality posters, and I know that's true. When the legitimate news media needs quality answers and quotes, where do they look first? SI and Motley Fool, that's where, because that's where the quality poster and knowledge resides.
I just visited one nameless thread over there. You've got a has been jock, a guy that might sort nails for a living, a choo-choo Charley and a tin man reassuring each other (and any silent lurkers) regarding the quality of their speculative wager that they refer to as an investment. There's another guy there that sounds like he's half drunk all day, and posts nothing but trash talk regarding SI and one of its' employees so that he can reassure himself of his own self worth. And then there's at least two biker types, one of whom claims to have deflected something in a trajectory near the planet Mars... My God! What a bunch of misfits. And you think you can maintain a rational discussion regarding a company's stock with the likes of them?
Please stay on SI where your talents are more appreciated. People like those on that nameless thread on that other chat board don't deserve to be shown how DD really works. If they suck in a few newbies that lose their money, I say so what. If people weren't so blinded by their own greed...
