Thanks for the heads up on the Idealab IPO. Much like the upcoming IPO for Divine Interventures (Is that still on track for later this month?). These two companies along with Yahoo and Softbank all have problems with the Investment Act of 1940. ICGE has an exemption and CMGI structured themselves as an operating company somehow (I think it was related to buying Alta Vista from Compaq). If Divine Interventures (DVIN) can remain on track, they will probably focus on the Investment Act of 1940 via an exemption (like ICGE) or by actually getting the law changed. Yahoo is currently also trying to get an exemption, but the best solution for everyone would be to change the law to permit the internet to develop without too many impediments. I think that DVIN is in the best position to exert political pressure to actually change the law through connections with Mayor Daley of Chicago and his brother who is heading up the Commerce Department in Washington DC.

BTW, I hope that Netconductor stays on top of that rumor that CMGI was going to buy DVIN. CMGI already owns a piece of DVIN and all of these interrelationships are making my head swim. <G>. Anyway some of these goings on could impact Yahoo and Softbank in the long run.
