MSFT says rev hurt due to slowdown in business PC sales.. Looks like msft (down almost 4 after hours) and cpq will get cheaper Monday..
By Tom Wolf, Bridge News New York--Apr 20--US stocks are seen subdued on the open Monday after Microsoft expressed caution about near-term growth in reporting earnings after the bell Thursday...as investors remain leery of high-priced technology issues.
After the bell, Microsoft (MSFT) reported third quarter
earnings of 43 cents a share, or 2 cents above the First Call consensus estimate. The software giant, however, said sales were hurt by a slowdown in personal computer sales and expressed caution about near-term prospects.
"Revenue was light as demand for business PCs remained slow in the quarter, and
we remain guarded about near-term growth," said John Connors, Microsoft's chief
financial officer.
