Mike, Here's another you can add to you list of FO test equipment vendors: fiberoptics.wwgsolutions.com I have a relative at the company and last January I demoed the 5100 series OTDR: fiberoptics.wwgsolutions.com In its basic configuration it is about $23K retail, with all the bells and whistles, over $30K. Re: Also, I still don't know how to evaluate the sector. The real question you might want to ask yourself is 'why bother?' And the reason I say that is that this is a cut-throat arena with no clear winners and a constantly evoloving playing field. Much like the video card sector, whoever is the market leader today can be pretty much guaranteed to be superceded by the next great thing from another vendor within two quarters. Far better to stick to the guys who have IPR leads, are selling components into the network market, or who have unassailable franchises ( a la QCOM). But test? Fuggedaboutit.... Ciao, Ray
