My question to the thread would be this: Would the new and improved versions of a generic wireless application protocol look more like SMS or i-Mode and less like a stripped down WAP? Or are there other flavors of exotica out there that I am as yet unaware of? I thought that Unwired Planet (PHCM) did a pretty good job of uniting the industry on a workable standard. Are we re-entering the tower of Babel? Or has WAP become so convoluted, as Pulver suggests, as to be tripping on its own shoelaces.

BL, ww, petere, y'all out there? Hopefully someone can help me relieve my utter inarticulation in this realm of the inscrutable RF signal.
