Softy is always MSFT, Martha, you will get to know our slang.

Why do people hate/dislike Gorillas? Some, just because they hate anyone who is successful. Most who hate them do so because they work for a competitor who can't beat them.

In Cisco and softie's case, a lot of the competitors individual products may be better than Cisco and MSFT, but they don't sell because the Gorillas have a lock.

This drives the people at these competitive companies nuts, because they know they have a better product, and they can't sell it. The "bloatware" charge against Windows by Sun Engineers has some merit, and MSFT is real thorn in the side of the Sun people. There have always been new, better routers that were going to kick Cisco's butt, and then went nowhere.

I suggest that any "newby" read "The plot to get Bill Gates", and "Inside Intel", if they want to understand the history of the competition that has gone on.
