I am somewhat familiar with GTL issues thru having been an investor in Sasol (SASOY; NASDAQ). My understanding is that there is a lot of infrastructure needed to support a thriving operation---and therefore, RTK has got a LONG LONG way to go before ever being viable.

This is not to say its stock that won't get bitten by the fuel cell mania out there and jump---just so you go in with your eyes open. The one wrinkle they offer on the GTL that they allege gives them a financial advantage is the use of waste oil in their process . This I have no knowledge of----if that claim is true and it doesn't require extra infrastructure they may get the financing they need to proceed. My guess right now is that they are essentially a shell company (despite the purchase of the old menthanol plant) which they hope to fund with stock thru market mania. If you see major oil companies throwing money at them then you'll know they've got a chance. That's my take on it.

PS. If you can stomach South African political risk you might want to take a look at Sasol vs. RTK ($6 VS. $3). Sasol already is earning money in the conventional energy business (pays a dividend) and the last I heard--several months ago---was in a jont venture with a major oil in Nigeria in the process of constructiing a GTL plant. It also has feelers out to a deal with Quatar (a gulf sheikdom) which has billions and billions of cubic ft. of natural gas.
