Charles, I could see where you could get that impression from re-reading my post. True, JINI stands alone independent of physical delivery. However, I've taken from reading at least a dozen articles that the intended primary physical layer is LonWorks. One example:

echelon.com

Use the site search engines at both SUNW and ELON and conduct a search for the other company's name. You will see why I've been under the impression LonWorks was to be the delivery method of choice. I would appreciate learning more if you have he time to post.

Much of the reason I post my thoughts is to see if I'm right. My goal is to learn from different perspectives and hopefully, contribute through sharing mine. I've heard that SI is a peaceful thread and tolerant of those who want to kick the tires a bit.

There's been some conversation regarding the IBM win at NCI. I think, put in perspective, it's of minimal importance. Some image damage more than anything else, IMO. However, I don't feel the divisional VP's comments that the business didn't even "appear on their radar screen" was appropriate. I seriously doubt Scott felt the same way....at least I hope not. Their "killer" instinct can be attributed to much of their success. Regards, pmcw
