OT, Williams on Willy, Rose can laugh? Who knew...

Hi Frank,

I haven't howled that much in a long time. I had hoped they would repeat the show today on OPB (Oregon Public Broadcasting) so I could record it, alas, this is not meant to be. That was, bar none, the best thing I've seen on TV in recent memory.

I tried the www.audible.com link and it seems to be still 'under construction'.

I'm a big fan of both of them, Williams because he is such a cut up and Rose for presenting some of the best, most intelligent interviews on the boob tube. I was watching him interview Steve Ballmer when the Williams teaser aired. Do you think Katy Couric would be interested in Ballmer? What Williams did with to her colonoscopy was marvelous. His mention of the Firesign Theatre brought back happy memories, and the mention of the "far flung Isles of Langerhan" was tastefully(sic) non-imitative.

I think Ray Kurzweil should spend as much time as possible investigating and imitating the neural network that exists in Robin's cranium. I'm in awe of his wit. I can come up with some good ones, but I'm glad I'm at a keyboard, where there is a moment to reflect and a chance to edit.

Now you were asking me about dirt stories. I almost got one off last night but Rose intervened. I do recall one politician up in Alaska in the 70's who made a run for governor and got a sizable percentage of the vote. His platform called for building a highway from Skagway to Ketchikan. Those glaciers in the way? Tactical nuclear weapons were the civil engineering tool of choice. We had some bold thinkers up there. Not bright thinkers, mind you, just bold.

Ciao, FOTH
