First off I apologize if I mistook your stating what others like about AOL to be your personal preference. My main objection is that you are asserting that ATHM needs to be more like AOL to succeed, I was simply stating that there is a growing population that is not interested in anything AOL-like and that I was a member in that fraction and it is a fraction that is growing. ( the growing part of that statement has everything to do with making money and very little to do with religious beliefs )

Obviously AOL has been a great investment. But your assertions would leave one to believe that it is possible for another AOL to rise. I don't think it is possible, anymore than it is possible for another MSFT or INTC to rise. Precisely because the circumstances that allowed that rise in the first place no longer exist.

BTW a posters continuous or non-continuous presence on a stock thread and continuous ownership of a stock are not necessarily a given. In other words, not everybody rode it up and then down even if they continued to follow it through it's history. And if there are people who did, so what? A lot it mattered several years down the road if you held AOL continuously or tried to trade in and out of it.....right?
