Fez, while I can't disagree with your observations concerning how the new bandwidth game is played by those who would now be the "sole owners" of transoceanic cable systems, vs. the older consortia, I think it's only fair to point out that those older less efficient practices among "consortia" were largely responsible for keeping bandwidth and service prices artificially high. It was part of the fabric amongst "partners" in a game that is now dying a slow, albeit now-accelerating, death.

It's only now, since the photon has been unleashed, and after new maverick companies have come along to disrupt the PTT/ITU/IXC cartel model, that pricing which more closely reflects real costs are allowed to appear. FWIW, FAC
