The value of the unlisted holdings for Softbank is really the wild card here. I have to say that these new IPOs will be viewed with a more critical eye in the future, but quality and a solid business plan with profits at the end of a (not too long) tunnel will be important. I hope this new attitude will not permanently derail the Speednet venture. There are rumors that there is some question about when the venture is expected to show a profit. Perhaps Tokyo Electric Power is not too comfortable with an endless stream of red ink? Don't they understand that Speednet is an Internet Company? <G>. This may actually be a healthy sign.
