Is my math right: as far as I can determine, the closing price for UMC shares on the Taiwan exchange was 97.00 Taiwanese dollars which converts to $3.17793 USD. So that means the value of the 133.2 million UMC shares is currently $423.3 million dollars. One half can be sold 6 months after the merger.

Can one of our financial wizards tell me how and where this is treated on the balance sheet.

Also, it seems to me that it is a growing asset (20% stock dividend that Eli mentioned) and it makes sense for SNDK to retain the shares. Look at this link - umc.com. Quite an increase in revenue. Since SNDK has a sizable amount of cash on the balance sheet, the only reason to sell the shares is if the asset begins losing value at the end of the restriction period or if cash is needed for acquisitions, or construction of Dominion.

Any thoughts.
