You undoubtedly are referring to the "tech" revolution. Unfortunately, we don't eat, ride to
work or sleep inside a data store. Furthermore, the computer industry including software
does not overall make up a very large portion of GDP.


Energy production and consumption is a far less a percentage of GDP then it was historically. That is not entirely due to technology but rather to a change in consumption habits and production abilities. Also a change in the size of total GDP.
