I don't think that is the general take on the situation over here, and even among the younger generation of Cuban Americans. I read an interesting piece on Elian's Miami relatives - a pretty unsavoury bunch including some criminals. As someone pointed out on the radio this morning the father's rights are pretty sacroscant - even O.J. Simpson got custody of his children. It's easy to blast Reno - and let ideology get in the way - but maybe this incident will pave the way for normal relations with Cuba so that when the boy grows up Cuba will be a different place. Those people had little regard for the lad - he was a pawn in the battle against big bad Fidel. Sad to say.
