Frank, Dave - Did it again! Swamped. Buried, in a mound of encyclopedic knowledge.
Jeez, Frank - ask a simple question...
Actually, you went right to the crux of my question - given the plethora of new fiber options - why SMF at all, any more? The answer seems to be, " Because it still has a place in the scheme of things fibrous." Would it be safe to assume that the apparent scarcity of SMF means that less of it is being produced (relative to the new variants)?
Interesting...would it mean, down the road, that there might be a niche market, producing "legacy" fiber, much the same as there was a need, until recently, for vacuum tubes for equipment that had not yet gone solid-state?
Anyway, thanks to both of you...I'm off to digest this mountain of new material, but I'll be back! (Most likely, with indigestion). >g< |
