I tend to think that something like Easter or a special thing they will out grow shouldn't be taken away. We as parents only have a very short time to enjoy this period. As far as lying I find that it seems to come easier for girls. I don't know if this is just the way it is in my house but I find my oldest daughter to be much more deceiving and sneaky. Maybe that's the way she feels she has to be. I agree with Neenish about chores. I reduce punishments all the time if they are willing to work it off. The boys always will opt for that and I think it's better for them to feel good about accomplishing something than to just sit in their room or lose TV or a toy.

ps--My youngest boy didn't get to color eggs this year due to his behavior..this came about after several warnings. I felt so bad for him I was willing to give it back, but the other kids wouldn't hear of it<gg>
Sometimes I'm convinced that I'm a terrible Daddy..Morning always seems to make it better
