Yes, Elian is a pawn. His everyday "American" relatives, who because of the last five months, have risen from obscurity to "important" people in the Cuban-Americam community. They desperately want to cling on to those extended "15 minutes of fame."

Yes, Elian is a pawn. Republicans. Yes, Republican politicians, who usually call themselves the protectors of "family values, " take sides against the father? Why? Because Cuban-Americans are Republicans by-and-large and big contributors (I might add).
