It's interesting that many people who are lefty when young will turn rightward when they get older. I can't think of a single instance of a young conservative turning liberal when older.

Some say Goldwater turned liberal, but he never changed. He always had a libertarian streak that became more apparent as the fundamentalists gained prominence.
