We don't disagree about the results. We DO disagree about the necessity for the means. Ordering the departure of the 3-ring circus surrounding the child's location (in the demonstrable interest of public safety) was an option unlikely to be chosen as it would irritate the assembled self-important press eager for continued confrontation.

Yes, I realize the gun was not actually pointed AT the child, but at the adult. The moment of terror was no less real. I find the fact that it was photographed at all quite revealing and nauseating.
