johnsto1: Regarding Barton Biggs, you are dead wrong. He has been bearish on the market for the last three years; his "call" last December was hardly anything new. If one had listened to his advice, the most extraordinary investing period of the last twenty years (1997-1999) would have been missed. Fact is, if you cry "wolf" often enough, eventually you will be right.
The reality is, tech stocks will correct 30-50% at least once a year. That is simply part of the investing landscape with tech stocks. Get used to it and get over it. The cutting-edge tech stocks with real products, real profits, and/or unique and valuable franchises will all retrace this past month's losses and then some. I'm glad I've had my money in stocks like PMCS, AMCC, EMC, NOK, etc., rather than the likes of Coke, Gillette, Caterpillar, etc. over the past three years. |
