Zeev,

I watched with interest the "Sixty minutes" segment today on the genetic tracing of the "Sons of Aaron", and noted the genetic link with a people in South Africa. I had previously heard rumors of dark skinned members of the Jewish faith in North Africa.

By tradition, verbal history is passed from father to son. Ostensibly, the "Y" chromosome passes unchanged from father to son, and can be traced quite reliably. Tradition appears to have also passed with some abberations. I.E., instead of circumcision on the 8th day, there in South Africa, it is the 8th year.

I do not mention this with any derisive motive in mind. I find it extemely interesting that the sons of Aaron can be traced back to his "y" chromosome with seemingly sound science back over three thousand years!

Sons of Aaron were deemed priests, but not necessarily Rabbis.

That tradition seems to have also been passed from father to son across the vast span of time.

Interesting stuff in my mind!

Regards,

Jack!
