They had a search warrant, which is a court order allowing entry into the premises for a specified purpose. They had all the legal authority they needed. The men involved deserve a commendation for an operation which took seconds and in which no one was hurt. You don't just knock on a door and ask in a volatile situation, when you aren't 1000% sure of the reception you will get. Many people in Miami own guns.
