I would like to suggest that there is one situation in which Liberals (do I take this to mean the modern meaning, what the Europeans would call Social Democrats?) have utterly abandoned the freedom of the individual. (Well, not counting such minutiae as taxation, lol) I refer you to the current debate on "gun control", a euphemism for civil disarmament.
