Maurice - Vodafone will want to install some equipment in the UK next year. What will they install? Maybe there is some DS-CDMA basics which will be available. It seems odd to me. It won't be the weird NTT version.

Just FYI: Everything I've seen implies that Japan is significantly ahead of Europe in the DS game. (e.g. trials, ASICs, ...) This could be just a function of press releases, but the one unbiased look was at the proposed specs from 1-1/2 years ago. The Japanese spec appeared substantially ahead of the European version. I suspect that if nothing else causes friction, this will. The European vendors have, in the past, shown no desire to tolerate anyone with a lead and are willing to play all sorts of PR or technical forum political games to nullify the lead or slow down the leader.

Just something else to think about.
