I refer you to the current debate on "gun control", a euphemism for civil disarmament. Clinton has de-escalated to "gun safety" for a while. Hunters can breath easy, he used to hunt when he was younger. Let's see... in 1934 a $200 tax on a $10 shotgun shouldn't be construed as infringing on 2nd. And it was eerily similar to the Stamp Act of 1765, which sought revenue from newspaper, legal and commercial documents. Thompson sub-machine guns sold at Sears for $125 and silencers were $2 (still legal in Sweden for hunting...saves the hearing) and a Ford worker made about $200 a month. If only Miller had showed up in court with his attorney (or the NRA) after all shotguns were issued for military use and Stevens sold them.
