Since the word is already out...Avanex (AVNX) is Gilder's new telecosm stock. Guess it's okay to put this on the board now. He said he spent his most inspiring time at Avanex on his recent travels. The Lightpath/Avanex connection follows:

LightPath Technologies Announces Product Qualification by Avanex Corporation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- LightPath Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LPTHA - news) announced today that it has been qualified by Avanex Corporation (Nasdaq: AVNX - news) to supply high-performance optical components for its telecommunications products.

The custom optics were designed specifically for Avanex and incorporate LightPath's proprietary GRADIUM© glass technology. Currently, Avanex is qualifying several other LightPath telecommunications products, including customized versions of the company's standard collimator products.

LightPath manufactures a family of high-performance fiber-optic collimator products utilizing its proprietary technologies, including laser-fusion, laser-polishing and GRADIUM axial gradient-index glass.

Garry Goodman, Director, Sales Western Region comments, ``We worked closely with Avanex personnel to provide an optical system that would fit into their existing equipment yet improve overall system performance.
