That news article had an April 14th byline and Softbank subsequently sank to new lower lows. As of a few minutes ago, Softbank is quoted in the US by Schwab at $490 bid and $540 asked with a posted $540/share value to reflect last weeks closing price (actually for Thursday here in the US). A Schwab broker just told me that the last trade executed by Schwab was a buy at $530. I was also told that tomorrow the Softbank shares will trade at the post split price here in the US and my account will not reflect any new shares until they are actually received in June. The broker anticipates that I will not be able to sell my new shares until around June 30th so I am locked into 2/3rds of my Softbank position for at least two months starting tomorrow. It is hard to predict how this will impact the near term stock price. That interpretation of what might happen to your margin position when the price drops but before you actually have the new shares seems pretty bizaare, but weirder things have happened. Good luck...
