Hi again Peter,

During our road show our investment bankers estimated that EarthLink should achieve critical mass sometimes soon after crossing the 500K customer mark. Nothing has changed and as we exited April we had over 300K clients an increase of over 70K since the first of the year.

EarthLink is constantly evaluating how we can bring higher bandwidth to our customers and ADSL is just one of those technolgies. We will actually be participating in an ADSL trial with Pac Bell later this year and hope to do the same with several other RBOC's or communication suppliers before year end. Several of our technical gurus really like the prospects of ADSL ... or more appopriately "Something"DSL as the prefix could ultimately be "H" or "X" and not "A". Our VP Research, Dick Edmiston (who by the way was one of the original founders of BBN Planet) is heading up this evaluation and trial process. Won't know more on this until later this year but ... the prospects of T-1 type speeds via twisted pair is terribly exciting although I doubt that the service will be priced over the near term such that most consumers would pay the extra bucks.
