< Chic, yes, exercising the Jul45 now to get an earlier LT gain makes sense to me. Of course with the caveat that the LT gain could disappear quickly if 1)Willy lives up to its hype, and 2)it arrives before Mustang and 1.5G TBird.

And you can always sell covered calls as long as they are not "in the money" without disturbing your holding period for LT gains.

It's very prudent to be cognizant of that AMD may become as it used to be, but in my opinion AMD is going to be a great stock for a very long time as the competition landscape has been permanently changed.

If Willy is going to be great product and cost competitive with AMD offerings, it may stall the rate of further growth of AMD, but I don't see AMD going back to its old days of losing money.

With added capacity( 10 to 12M CPUS per quarter in Y2K1), more products (different flavors of Athlon), narrowed technology gap, I believe AMD is on a coarse of permanent stability for a long time to come. Welcome comments on this from you and others.
