I think Mr. Matsumoto simply was misquoted or "mis-spoke". No big deal, as far as I'm concerned. Remember, no one has DS CDMA chipsets for sale so no one is yet being shut out of any markets.

I think that he would have preferred to say that it is better AT THIS POINT IN TIME for Q to sell CDMA 2000 because it's got the chipsets. If Q does not develop DS CDMA chipsets, a doubtful proposition, then what he said may be accurate.

I'm convinced after reading many posts and conducting my own research that Q has essential IPR for DS CDMA which NOK and others need, and that it's not the other way around as you suggest.

The Q no doubt believes that CDMA2000 is a lot less complex, just as fast if not faster than DS CDMA, and definitely cheaper to implement. Plus, the chipsets are available. In a rational world, CDMA2000 should succeed. I think that what we're seeing are the protests and FUD of entities who simply don't want to buy chipsets from Q or pay for the CDMA2000 IPR.

But this has ben Q's history. Lots of protests followed by capitulation.
