Quite right the facts are very much in dispute. That is why his case is being adjudicated in US Courts. Not in dispute is that Elian has applied for asylum in the US and the 11th court of appeals stated in no uncertain terms HE HAS THAT RIGHT. Clinton has now deprived him of legal representation so his rights are severely imperiled.

The arrangement, by which he came to our shores was in a small boat, swamped by a Cuban military ship. Most of the occupants, including Elian's mother were thus murdered by Castro. By a miracle, Elian escaped Castro's clutches. You would have him handed back. Shame on you.

The Great Uncle claims the father asked him to take care of Elian. He believes it is his duty to do so. He believes the father is being coerced and so do I.

By all means let's strip away the anti-Cuban (both anti and pro communist) rhetoric. This is less an issue of the immoral dictatorship in Cuba and more an issue of a renegade administration defying the courts in the name of the rule of law.
