Russ;
I beat you to it. If you got the time, take a look at my earlier post today. So, let me say, congratulations, birds of a feather flock together. We are like ying and yang. Like-thinking people we are - you and i. Uh, c___, lets cut it out. I proposed the "3:30 early release of bad news to avoid after-market slaughter" theory in jest. I really don't believe there is going to be bad news. I am however, puzzled by the 3:30 release.
Let me suggest this. The 3:30 earnings release is an extraordinary event. An extraordinary event is seldom, if ever brought about by ordinary circumstances. Therefore, the earnings number will, imho, be extraordinary. But which way - good or bad? I'm going to rule out "bad" because bad earnings would have resulted in an earnings warning by MC. That leaves "good". You will also note that the company stated that the earnings release at 3:30 is to allow shareholders and other interested parties time to digest the numbers in advance of the conference call. In other words, prior quarters didn't require extraordinary time to digest the numbers. This quarter does. Therefore, this quarter has a lot to digest. A lot of "good" stuff to digest. Too cool.
Conclusion: Earnings will beat .16 by an extraordinary amount (perhaps 8 to 10 cents) and therefore will require lots of time to explain and digest in advance of conference call. |
