David you are way into the wilderness on this issue.:

The father no longer speaks for himself or Elian.

Says who? Says you?

And as I have said that still doesn't matter. We are not the ones to decide. It is Juan's right to decide for Elian. Juan must live with himself if he is a puppet of Castro and would condemn his son to a life of slavery. But there is no indication of that if Juan himself does not seek asylum. Which he has not.

Absent Juan's request for assistance you cannot presume to interject yourself in his life. Those are his decisions.

This should be an important moment for you right wingers seeking to meddle into other people's business. I am sure now that you can never risk further argument about the incursion of government in people's lives when you yourselves are so ready to be point men on denying a father his son and a son his father.
