To reduce technology churn, I-Link's next-generation architecture is flexible enough to adapt to a wide variety of standards and protocols, including internet media control protocol (IMCP), media gateway control protocol (MGCP), session initiation protocol (SIP), real-time transport protocol (RTP) and others yet to emerge.

To compete and succeed in the highly competitive market place, the service providers, such as I-Link, need an architecture that offers them the highest possible degree of flexibility at the lowest possible cost to meet the demands of today's dynamic, new environment. They need an architecture that bridges the Legacy TDM and IP worlds today and allow them to migrate to the pure data-centric world of tomorrow cost-effectively, while gaining market share with innovative enhanced services in the process.

I-Link has adopted a next-generation service architecture that satisfies the following critical requirements:
1. Flexible enhanced services deployment capabilities;
2. Ability to operate in new-world, multi-service networks;
3. Provision of customizable services;
4. Support for Legacy and new network interfaces and protocols; and
5. Low cost of entry with high degree of scalability.
I-Link's pure IP Real Time Network is slowly being transformed into an Integrated Access Network for converged voice, data, and video communications.

Here's the road map to what I-Link is up to?.........

1. I-Link has the nations largest real time IP Network with "1+" dialing and has over 11 hubs and 2,500 pops? with unlimited "controlled" capacity;
2. I-Link's internally developed "IP Gateways" and "Soft Switch Plus" technology has enabled it to deploy the nations first and the largest "switch less" real time IP Network on leased infrastructure of others;
3. GateLink APIs allow others to port their applications on the I-Link's Network without having to spend huge amount of capital on infrastructure or taking long periods of time for developing applications from scratch. One such example is Nortel Networks' Internet Call Waiting (ICW) service that is ported on I-Link's IP Network and is offered to the MSN Internet Access customers of Microsoft;
4. I-Link's recently announced "TalkFree" service allows the visitors to the host web site [any bodies web site with the TalkFree icon] the opportunity to make FREE long distance phone calls anywhere in the USA. Go to I-Link web site to try out the free LD service: i-link.net
5. I-Link recently announced its patented IP Conference Calling service and its text-to-speech service to third-party telephony applications developers. Application developers using I-Link's GateLink(TM) open-API programming platform for enhanced IP communications will for the first time be able to add conference calling and text-to-speech features to their customized communications offerings on a national scale without deploying a single piece of network infrastructure. With the newly available services, users will have the ability to conduct seamless conference calls with an unlimited number of participants. The text-to-speech feature will deliver a variety of Internet conveniences to users via telephone, such as the ability to listen to e-mail messages, receive verbal notice of appointments or listen to updated stock quotes. As a result, service providers have a low-cost method to deliver highly complex communications services to the end user;
