ILNK: The Importance of Disruptive Technology and Lower Prices(11)

Nortel and Lucent recently announced fiber optic system that can route 640 channels of voice and data traffic into one single strand of fiber. Now I know that may sound like lot of techno-babble. So imagine the current phone network as a 10-lane superhighway. What Nortel and Lucent have done is build 640 new highways-each with 10 lanes-on top of each existing lane of traffic. All across America. That's a lot of growth in capacity. It's this technology that is the basis for the new communications superhighway being built right along side of the old.

Although almost no one knows about it yet, this new network will be more powerful than the communication systems owned by AT&T, MCI/Worldcom, and Sprint, put together. The result of this investment by the likes of Quest, Level 3 and Global Crossing will enable an entirely new, higher level of communication.

It's been called INTERNET II. Imagine your phone, your television, your fax machine and the Internet all put together, and as mobile as a cell phone, but cheaper than what you're paying now for local phone service.

I-Link recognizes that capabilities like these are just the beginning, and the huge bandwidth of Internet II will surely improve the QoS over the Public Internet. And accordingly, I-Link recently announced plans to embrace the public Internet to port their converged voice and data communication services-with further cost benefits making I-Link more competitive.

Each one of I-Link's business units can command billions of dollars in valuation. In comparison, the Net2Phone type of business with a valuation of over $4 billion represents only a "fraction" of I-Link's technology and its business model. A $20 billion dollar valuation of I-Link, in the next two years, is not far fetched.

When I-Link is ready, I am sure I-Link management will put-up some or all of these business units for bid or position them for possible spin-off.

I hope I've opened your eyes to the vast new opportunities that exist for you right now.
