Wow James!

That, and a new decision by the Supreme Court that this is a Christian nation might make it legally so. That decision is from the 1890's. It is hardly the only decision of that age that has been reversed. Or ignored later.

But the fact is, the US wasn't , isn't, and won't be.

It's amazing how many folks believe that nonsense.

In the constitution all swearing in procedures are to be done with one hand placed on a Bible. It also makes provision for a chaplin to open each session of congress with prayer. These are, by no means, all of the references to God and the Bible there.

One of the first (and perhaps the very first) action of the first congress was to provide for the printing of Bibles for textbooks for every school child in the country.

While the constitution does not include a phrase like "this is a Christian nation" it does provide that every elected official is to sware an oath to God to assume the office.

I'm positive that it was beyond the wildest nightmares of every one of the founding fathers, that someday any one living in this country could possibly think otherwise. If any of them would have thought it possible, I'm sure that the langauge would have been in there .. no ifs ands or buts.
