Mike, here's a company that seems to compete with Vari-L. Don't know how there product stacks up, but they seem to have a similar role of customers.

I'd be interested to know a little more about them and why VARL has a better product if anyone would care to comment.

Micronetics Announces First Sales of Components for Fiber Optic Applications
HUDSON, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2000--Micronetics Wireless, Inc. announced today that its Micronetics/VCO Products Group received initial orders to supply voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) to improve length of transmission with less signal degradation in a fiber optic application. This is the first time that it has sold these products for fiber optic applications.

Stu Bernstein, Vice President of Micronetics/VCO Products, stated, ``To get designed into this customer's proprietary fiber optic product, which enables longer transmission runs with less signal degradation, was a significant achievement. It is an example of how our engineering team works closely with customers to develop solutions using strategic applications of our products.''

Richard Kalin, President, stated, ``We are actively investigating applications of our current technologies in the fiber optic marketplace. We have learned that several of our components, with or without modification, have fiber optic applications. We are anticipating marketing more of these products into the fiber optic component marketplace during the current fiscal year.''

Headquartered in Hudson, NH, Micronetics' designs components that process radio frequency (RF) and microwave frequency signals and test equipment that generates and correlates broadband noise signals with carrier signals.
