Phone.com's UP.Link Server and UP.Browser to be Used in Nextel's Wireless Internet Service
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: PHCM - news), a leading provider of mobile Internet software, applications and services, announced that Nextel will be using the Phone.com(TM) UP.Link(TM) Server Suite Release 4.0 to deliver wireless Internet services to Nextel Online customers as it begins rolling out its new national service today. Nextel will use Release 4.0 of the UP.Link Server to offer a suite of wireless data and Internet services. Nextel subscribers will be able to access the Nextel Online applications and the Internet using Motorola iDEN© ``plus'' series handsets, which are equipped with Phone.com's UP.Browser(TM) microbrowser.

The combination of the newly launched Nextel Online applications and Phone.com's UP.Link Server Suite enables Nextel to offer a robust platform for communicating and facilitating business. Approximately 2 million national Nextel customers who use the iDEN ``plus'' series phones will have the opportunity to enjoy a single, wireless business communication tool that integrates wireless Internet service, Nextel Direct Connect© digital two-way radio service, digital cellular service, and text/numeric paging into one phone.

Phone.com has licensed its UP.Browser microbrowser to 30 mobile phone manufacturers including Motorola, NeoPoint, Qualcomm, Siemens and Samsung. The addition of Phone.com's UP.Browser to Nextel's iDEN ``plus'' series phones will enable those phones to deliver standards-based, secure and scalable interactive applications, without adding to their cost or size.
