Nathan,

In my research into trading futures, (from reading many different traders and talking to a few), time and time again those who have won consistently over the years..., to them the most critical part of long term success is money management.

Most professional traders do not risk more then 2% of their total trading portfolio on any one position. But they might be invested in seven+ different futures markets.

Yes, you might be a great trader, but being fully booked on margin in one market can easily wipe out an account in an unexpected move. Actually, getting smacked will happen to every trader. How much is lost is up to your money management.
