Bell Atlantic says it may miss DSL subscriber goal
Bell Atlantic Corp. said today it may miss its goal of 500,000 DSL Internet customers by year-end due to slower-than-expected subscriber growth in the first quarter,Reuters reports. New York-based Bell Atlantic said it could miss its target by 100,000 to 200,000 DSL customers. During the first quarter, Bell Atlantic said it doubled sales of its Infospeed DSL service, ending the quarter with more than 60,000 digital subscriber lines in service. The company said it expects its DSL subscriber growth to accelerate during the rest of the year as it launches special promotions and product enhancements.
